What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First, a general introduction about myself and how my company operates. Gather necessary information about the project requested, create a file and a job number for the client and schedule a face to face meeting to do a free estimate. J. M.H. Contracting LLC usually estimates projects lower than the competition and has almost flawless work, as I am a perfectionist due to my education and training as an RN. I performed open heart surgery and there are no margins for error in this field. With that said I am a perfectionist. - Jeffrey M. Honchar.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I started framing houses and building houses 20 years ago for Feaga Homes. Mr. Feage, being a master carpenter, taught me everything I know. Further, my father is an engineer and we have built and constructed many things together and he has also taught me the correct way is the only way, and your word is all you have. - Jeffrey M. Honchar.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Somewhat, there is a standard pricing system that I use. Depending on the job, I price my jobs by the square foot or linear foot. I found that this method of pricing has proven to be extremely competitive. Furthermore, cheaper is not necessarily always the way to go. You do get what you pay for. -Jeffrey M. Honchar.

How did you get started in this business?

I got started in the business 4 years ago after my daughter Yeardley was born. My Fiance was extremely ill after post delivery and suffers from an IGA deficiency. With that said, she had a 'C' Section and had to heal by secondary intention, which is from the inside out and could not be sutured shut. I worked (5) days a week, 14 hour days for (2) years. With coming home and taking care of a baby, cooking dinner, cleaning the house, bathing the baby, putting the baby to bed... I think you got the picture. After she was cleared to work I went back to (3) days a week and found myself bored. I started building decks and one thing lead to another because of my custom designs and perfection professional attitude. This helped my business take off rather quickly. - Jeffrey M. Honchar.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with a diversified group of customers from families, single men, and women, widowed women, windowed men, the handicapped, commercial owners, rebuilding stores in malls. - Jeffrey M. Honchar.

Describe a recent project you are fond of.

I recently rehabbed a house for a client and totally transformed his kitchen into a work of art giving him much more space, storage space along with a coffee island for his family to eat together. - Jeffrey M. Honchar.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

First, the first impression is last impression, someone who comes prepared with product samples, cost estimates, reference sheet along with a bio of the owner. This allows the client to better know them without taking up a lot of there time. Time is very important in today's busy world, so be prepared with necessary items, a file, business card along with a business pen. Having the correct tools and being well prepared enables me to do a correct estimate for a specific job and ultimately speeding up the process, which then takes up less of the client's time. - Jeffrey M. Honchar.
